This class is a continuation of our introduction to German Part 1 or a similar class. Perhaps you began your studies with us or perhaps you took a class somewhere else. We will make sure to bring you up to speed before continuing on to help you further your learning. This class, like all others, is taught entirely in German.

Pre-requisite:
At this point of their learning, students are already somewhat comfortable with the following aspects of communication and grammar:

-Introducing themselves and others as well as asking and answering questions about personal details such as where they live and where they are from, what they do for work, what their family is like, etc.
-Being familiar with the alphabet and the numbers from 0 to 1.000.000 as well as asking for and giving the prices of various items.
-Using a limited number of adjectives to describe objects in the house
-Hearing and understanding short conversations on these topics
-Present tense verb conjugation singular and plural
-Yes/no – and W- (information) questions
-Definite articles
-Personal pronouns (in the subject=nominative case)
-Possessive articles
-Negation with “nicht”

In this level, they will learn:

-to describe things in terms of color, form and material
-to conduct a phone conversation and to write emails or text messages
-to talk about leisure activities
-to make suggestions and react to them
-to tell and recognize time
-to label times of day and days of the week
-to set up appointments

Grammar topics will include:

-indefinite articles
-negative articles
-singular and plural forms of nouns
-the accusative
-the modal verb können
-separable-prefix verbs
-the temporal prepositions am and um
-word order
